License Requirements
By law, ultrasound technicians don’t have to be licensed to work in this field, but employers are highly likely to reject those without credentials.
The most requested certification is the one by ARDMS or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
The easiest way of getting this license is by taking the exam, after completing a training course or program.
The exams are held through the Pearson Vue testing agency.
Those interested need to make sure the program they choose received accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Depending on the institution selected for training, a scholarship might be available for some of the students.
