The massage therapy licensing process in New Hampshire is more demanding compared to other states.
The licenses are managed by the Advisory Board of Massage Therapists.

Training Requirements
You will have to finish a 750-hour program to apply for your massage therapist license.
If you apply from another state, you need to submit proof the standards are as high as in New Hampshire.
The education hours should be split as follows:
- 150 hours in anatomy and physiology
- 375 hours in massage therapy theory, practice, history, benefits, contradictions, related modalities and adjunct therapies, including hydrotherapy and Swedish massage.
- 50 hours in hygiene and sanitary practices, including blood-borne pathogens
- CPR training through the National Safety Council, the American Red Cross, or the American Heart Association.
- 50 hours in ethics, business management, and health service management
- 125 hours of practical experience that are not part of the therapy practice hours
You can only take online education if it approved by the New Hampshire State Rule He-P 905.01.

How to Apply
You will be taking the MBLEx exam in order to get your license.
For this, you need to read a candidate information bulletin and pay a $195 fee.
After receiving your ATT, you have 3 months to take the exam.
The fee for the application form only is $110 and can be downloaded from the website of the Board.
You also have to submit a passport-sized photo, copies of diplomas and copies of your transcripts sent directly by your school.
You may also submit CPR diploma copies.
If you apply from another state, you need to submit a portfolio for review.
Candidates From Other States
Your training needs to meet the criteria in New Hampshire in order to get licensed.
You will be able to get a temporary license if you actively worked as a massage therapist for 3 to 5 years.
For this, you must have completed 500 hours of training and prove you are licensed in another state.
You must also be 21 years old and live in New Hampshire.

In New Hampshire, the license needs to be renewed every 2 years.
