Courses also cover national codes and safety.
Upon completion, successful participants will qualify to take the national electricians certification exam.
During the 2-year program, candidates will receive hands-on training while working as an apprentice next to a professional electrician.

Fresno City College is a public community college that offers affordable associate degree programs and job training.
The school offers a certificate program in electrical systems technology.
From lectures to labs, students will learn about electrical components, circuitry, digital concepts, robotics, and cable wiring.

The program has been given the seal of approval by the Division of Apprenticeship of the state of California.

3 Fresno Adult School
Fresno Adult School offers students over the age of 18 the opportunity to gain or improve the skills needed to begin a career in many areas, including electrician courses.

Upon completion of the program, students will qualify to work as an electrician’s apprentice and take the state exam which is needed to eventually become licensed.

4 UEI College
This vocational college is accredited by the Commission of Career Schools and College.
All classes are kept at under 30 students.
The electrician technician program includes instruction in wiring, conduit bending, on-site experience in the state of the art lab, with mock panels and fixtures.
Students will learn about repair, installation, and proper maintenance of electrical systems in residential and commercial settings.
The program takes 9 months to complete.
Students will be given assistance in finding an electrician apprenticeship which is required to gain their electrician’s license.
The cost is $10,000.

5 Fresno Joint Apprenticeship and Training Commission
This electrical training center is the only school that is solely devoted to the education and training of electrician apprentices.
Run by the JATC, they require their apprentices to complete a rigorous, but nationally recognized series of courses.
This is done in conjunction with paid, on-the-job training.
All courses and training is given by master-level electricians.
Classes are kept small with no more than 10 people per class.
Students can apply to the program in person on the first and third Wednesdays of each month.
There is mandatory drug testing before acceptance and throughout the course of the program.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
